Professional Background
My goal for you is to try and make your life simpler and better by helping you manage your personal finance so that you can focus on something more important – things that you love to do so that money never comes in your way of reaching your dreams. I look to this becoming our shared goal.
For the last 10 years, I have been running a successful financial planning & wealth management firm called Etica Wealth Management (P) Ltd (www.eticawealth.com). I started Etica Wealth in 2009 because I was very unhappy with the kind of advice being doled to individual investors. Most of the retail investors were taken for a ride by the sweet-talk of their relationship managers.
I wanted to create a firm where there is complete transparency and interests are aligned. As T Rowe Price said, “What is good for the client is also good for the firm”, I believe in showing my family portfolio to my investors to demonstrate my version of skin in the game. My family’s current portfolio status is available on the Home Page.
Work Experience
Before this, I was associated with UTI Asset Management Company Ltd for 4 years in various roles. I was Business Development Head for the UK and European Markets for UTI International Ltd in London for 3 years. I have more than 16 years of experience encompassing both Indian and overseas capital markets.
Education
I am a CFA Charterholder and has completed Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and International Certificate in Financial Advice (ICFA) from the UK. I have an MBA from International Management Institute, New Delhi. The real learning, of course, has been through watching “One Idiot”, numerous client interactions, study circle meetings, industry seminars & conferences and by reading books on the lives of legendary investors. The stock market has been the best teacher and I am happy to be a life-long learner of the markets.
Media Exposure
I have been interviewed and quoted extensively by both international and domestic print media including Financial Times UK, The Economic Times, Times of India, Business Standard, Mint newspaper, and have made live appearances on premier business channels in India like CNBC TV18, ET NOW, ZEE Business, Bloomberg TV & CNBC Awaaz. I have been a columnist for Mint Newspaper under the column title “The Intelligent Investor”.
Recognition
I have been featured in the e-book “Top 10 Financial Planners in India” by Jagoadvisor.com and given the Wealthforum Rising Star Award 2013.
While I could feel quite satisfied to look back at an eventful decade, I know I have a lot more ground to cover to get as many families as possible to achieve financial freedom and to empower our youth with financial knowledge for a better life in the years to come.
Thus, the lines from Robert Frost’s beautiful poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’ echo a sense of my future.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
